When Spiritual Guidance Becomes Harm
I’m no stranger to cultish groups; I have operated with a pretty open heart and with the belief that everyone’s potential translates into goodness. I’ve been involved with more than a couple of MLMs and, of course, am spiritually inclined, which should be obvious with the work I do!
Several years ago, I was introduced to a psychic; my best friend, who was a well-known clairvoyant, had died a few years prior, and I was missing our daily conversations that were always a blend of the silly, mundane things, as well as the mystical. Initially, my sessions with this person were beneficial, and when I was invited to participate in some group experiences, I was quite excited to build my spiritual knowledge. I eventually entered a business coaching mastermind with a spiritual slant and was excited to focus on the soul of my business as I wanted to grow my revenue.
It began with kind words, valuable processes and bright promises. Over time, though, the tone shifted. Group calls became arenas where any one of the members was singled out and shamed for not progressing fast enough, being in denial of our self-sabotaging patterns and lying to ourselves about our gifts.
Each of us in the group was trying harder and harder, and yet, it was never good enough, as proof, no one was increasing their ROI. And so we began this dance of working harder, submitting to her guidance more and more, enrolling in the advanced classes because oh, we weren’t ready for THAT level of growth yet.
The more I complied, the smaller I became. I disconnected myself from my intuition and my own guidance, even though I could quietly hear it saying, “Is this really the direction you want to go, and the person you want guiding you?” I even told myself that I was simply imagining things when I saw this person’s true face, something that terrified me in the moment because it was as if the mask had momentarily fallen off, and I gazed into the eyes of evil. I shook it off as a trick of the light because I’d allowed myself to become so disconnected from my gifts.
My revenue fell. I watched the same decline move through others in the group, the same doubt taking root, the same pressure to perform for the mentor who set herself as the only holder of knowledge.
My breaking point arrived when she told me I had “Lucifer” in me and that my best friend, the one who died many years ago, was channelling through her and that she was “concerned”. That sentence was designed to frighten me into obedience; the words supposedly delivered by my best friend had zero resonance, and I saw it all for the fraud that was playing out. I was done being bullied into giving over my power. I left and reached out to the woman who would later train me in Professional Master Clearing™ and hired her to clear me.
Once I was cleared, I began to feel lighter almost immediately, though I still carried fear of spiritual repercussions. I had nightmares that she was trying to get into my house, lurking behind doors, etc.
As I began purging all the files, I reviewed the group contract more closely and noticed a clause granting her continual access to the group’s energetic fields.
This is not spiritual.
It is not protective.
It is unethical.
Access to someone’s energy is consent-based, explicit, time-bound, and revocable. Anything else is an intrusion dressed as devotion.
Since then, I have sat with many clients who were told by healers that they needed to be cleared every day to stay safe or to stay aligned. The instruction sounded like care, but in practice, it created dependence. The practitioner remains the center of power, and the client learns to outsource their sense of direction. Schedules and payments were organized around the constant need to be “fixed,” while life becomes smaller and more anxious. When the cure requires your continual return to the one who prescribes it, something other than healing is in play.
In my business, my commitment to my clients is not abstract. It was forged in my own experience and refined through years of tending to clients who endured similar patterns. Professional Master Clearings™ can address the energetic roots of this type of spiritual abuse. A clearing can remove the energetic infrastructure that keeps people hooked long after a relationship ends, whether it’s spiritual, business, romantic or something different. The work is analytical and precise. I remove a number of different bindings and cords. I revoke vows that don’t belong, remove energetic implants, and manipulation seeded in the field under the guise of support. This includes psychic attack and black magic. I close lingering access points that allow former practitioners to continue reaching into a person’s energy without consent. I do this all without punishment or retaliation and steeped in light without retribution, so that the experience is the restoration of a boundary that should never have been crossed.
The effects of spiritual manipulation are not only psychological or financial. They are energetic architectures that shape thought, mood, and even your ability to choose. They nudge attention toward fear, amplify self-doubt, and create loops of rumination that make ordinary tasks feel heavy. They can distort intuition so that what once felt clear becomes sticky and confusing.
In business, they can interrupt the natural rhythm of creation and exchange, so offers stall and income drops, not because the work has lost its value, but because the energetic web is pulling your focus and siphoning your light.
When I remove the web of confusion, your system can return to its resonant settings. Clarity comes back, and you have the capacity to grow at a balanced pace.
In this work, consent is central; I never “go into” your energetic field, I work on clients remotely, and this work is for the purpose of repair - AND - only for the duration of the clearing.
The intention is simple and accountable.
Remove what is dark and does not belong while restoring the right relationship within. I close what is porous and then strengthen your energetic and subtle body with a Gold Treatment. When the clearing is complete, I do not access anything more unless asked.
Your field belongs to you, hard stop.
People often ask how spiritual abuse can root itself in intelligent, sensitive communities. The answer is not weakness. It is timing. People seek support during sensitive thresholds, when they are tender, scared-but-hopeful, and oftentimes exhausted. A promise of total transformation can sound like relief when the nervous system is tired. None of this is a moral failure. It is a human moment in which discernment is needed and often in short supply, especially when we’re vulnerable. Abusers and profiteers are skilled at sensing those moments and building containers where secrecy, shame, and mystique replace transparency, humility, and skill.
A healthy container looks and feels different. Authority is shared. Methods are explained in as plain language as possible, and boundaries are expressed clearly. No one places themselves above you, even if they are knowledgeable about something you’re not. No one uses spiritual labels to threaten you into compliance. Your life becomes steadier over time, even if there are struggles that arise. Your decisions are your own, and your connection with what you know to be true strengthens quietly. True mentorship becomes less necessary as your inner leadership matures. That is the arc of real healing and support.
Professional Master Clearings™ were designed to help when that arc has been interrupted. Sometimes the interruption is old, carried through lineage or past lives. Maybe it’s earlier experiences that taught you to hand over your power. In my case, I had been primed through an abusive marriage where I made myself smaller and smaller over the duration of the relationship, and so when a trusted guide turned toward control, it actually felt familiar in my nervous system - and familiarity is not always good. My own experience of receiving a Clearing was a careful unwinding of what had been installed, a closing of open doors in my energetic field, and a removal of the blinders that were so easily slipped on.
I approach this work as both practical and sacred. After the darkness is removed, the next chapter is integration. This is where SoulPoint Journey can support. It is not about being told what to do. It is about listening to how your own spirit speaks and translating that into the next right steps that work for you and that you can actually take.
We tune into your values, your timing, and your capacity.
We build trust back into your inner relationship so that your business, creative work, and partnerships can move on their own terms, not through someone else’s control.
I share my story to say this plainly. Abuse in spiritual and coaching spaces is real. It not only harms feelings. It alters fields, choices, and livelihoods. It can empty bank accounts and erode confidence. It can make gifted people doubt their own power and original work. Naming it is part of the repair. Removing it is the rest.
If your experience echoes any of this and you want a clean, energetic reset, begin with a Professional Master Clearing™. From there, if you wish, we can listen together for what is next.
