I Thought I Was Being Clear
I recently spent a weekend with a group of girlfriends I've known since we were kids, celebrating the year we all turned 50. We're not especially close these days, and we'd never really talked about my work, so most of what they know about it comes from what they see me post. Over dinner, one of them asked whether I can actually see the things I clear, and whether I could see them on her. Another asked me whether my posts are meant literally or metaphorically.
I told them that what I talk about is literal, but what stayed with me afterward was that they'd needed to ask at all. Apparently, I may have gotten a little too good at making strange things sound reasonable.
I've spent years deliberately looking for grounded language to describe work that can sound pretty unusual, partly because I take the claims I make about this work seriously. There's also no shortage of theatrical content in the spiritual space, and I've never wanted my work mistaken for it. But these are people who read my posts AND know me, and they still weren't entirely sure what I meant.
In trying not to overstate anything, I may have become so careful with my language that I've left people wondering whether I mean some of it at all.
What I Actually Mean
When I say that a dark element can attach to a person's energetic field and feed on their light, I mean that literally.
When I tell a client her light was low, I'm reporting a measurement that I’ve taken, not describing how she seemed to me. Light is measured before and after a Professional Master Clearing™, and people are often surprised by their initial measurement, usually because they've been functioning at a depleted level for long enough that it has become normal.
And when I talk about dark elements, I'm not using that as a catch-all phrase for bad energy. A Professional Master Clearing™ analysis checks more than thirty specific categories, including curses, vows and agreements, imprints and psychic attack. The analysis identifies what's present before I remove anything.
Literal Doesn't Mean I'm Scanning Your Aura
One of my friends wanted to know whether I could actually see the things I clear and, more specifically, whether I could see anything on her while we were sitting there talking.
While I can see auras and energy, that doesn't mean I'm walking around scanning everyone I meet to see what's in their energetic field. First of all, that’s bad boundaries, rude and dangerous; I don't do that, and second, it's also not how a Professional Master Clearing™ works.
When I'm working with a clearing client, I'm not looking at her aura and intuiting what's there. The process begins with a specific analysis, and the work is deliberately structured so that I stay outside her energetic field and she stays outside mine. I verify which elements are present through that analysis, and once the clearing is complete, I go back through what I identified to verify the results.
So no, having dinner with me doesn't mean I'm sitting across the table checking your aura for dark elements. And when I tell a client that something was present and has been cleared, it's not because I happened to see something on her. I'm reporting what the analysis identified and what I verified afterward.
What I Believe and What I Know
Something similar came up in another conversation recently, when a friend asked whether I thought she needed a clearing.
Personally, I believe most people would benefit from a clearing given the amount of darkness I perceive in the world right now, and I hold that belief sincerely. But believing someone would benefit from a clearing isn't the same as knowing what's actually present for that particular person.
I hadn't performed an analysis on my friend, so I wasn't going to tell her she had a curse, an attachment, an imprint or anything else. Anything I said about what was specifically present for her would have been a guess, and I'd rather not guess about someone's energetic field.
What I did tell her was what I believe, based on my experience and what I've observed through my years of doing this work. What I couldn't tell her at that moment, not without performing the analysis, was what was actually there for her.
If my words are literal, they're also claims, and I think that's probably part of why I've become so careful with them. I can share a belief as a belief, describe something I've observed as an observation, or tell you what I perceive. But if I'm telling you something specific is present in your energetic field, I want to have verified it.
Careful Isn't Always Clear
I don't think the answer is to become less careful with my words. If anything, this conversation reminded me why that care matters and what I'm reconsidering is whether I've assumed too much about what people understand when they read them.
I'd assumed that when I talk about light measurements, dark elements, curses, psychic attack and the other things I encounter in my work, people understood that I meant those things literally. It turns out they don't always, and I'd rather be more explicit than leave people filling in the blanks themselves.
So if you've ever read something I've written and wondered whether I really mean it, I do.
If you've wondered whether any of these dark elements are actually present for you, that's the part I don't guess about. A Professional Master Clearing™ starts with an analysis so that I am clearing what is actually there, not guessing.
